Halloween is an interesting holiday that is celebrated annually on the last day of October, especially in European countries and in the United States of America. On this occasion, Peace International School celebrated a colorful and lively Halloween Festival for the students to help them, not only get more information and knowledge about this festival but also the culture of Europe and the United States of America.
The festival began with a buffet party which had been carefully prepared in the school dining area. During the party, the students enjoyed a variety of delicious Halloween food.
After the party, students participated in a costume contest. With their creativity and imagination, they were made up and dressed as famous characters like Annabelle, Spooky clown, the Grim Reaper, Zombie, Witch, etc. to have impressive catwalk performances. Their creative, inspiring and professional performances made decisions difficult for the judges – the school board of management and foreign teachers. It was very difficult for them to pick the winner. Finally, students in grade 4, 7 and 9 won the competition.
In addition, the Game show took place at the school library with 15 questions about the origin, meaning and traditional activities of Halloween festival. The students were so excited that they could answer almost all the questions from the foreign teacher. The questions, for example: “What does Hallo mean?” “How do children usually play Treat or Trick?”
After receiving gifts from the Game show, primary students attended the “passing ball by head” game while middle and high school students attended a Treasure Hunt Game which was very entertaining and interesting. Finishing the game, students in grade 8 and grade 9 found the treasure first in a very short time.
As the physical games finished, students gathered with their former teachers and foreign teachers to decorate pumpkins into beautiful and impressive Jack O’ Lanterns. Students were so proud of their products which were designed and created thanks to their creativity and imagination. The winning teams of the game are grade 4, grade 6 and grade 9. Mr. Simon, one of the foreign teachers of the school and one of the four judges said: “I come from England, where the Halloween Holiday is not celebrated to the same extent as in the United States of America but when I see students participating in the Halloween festival at Peace International School with happiness and excitement, it brought back many happy memories of the one that I attended when I was a child with my friends.”
The last activity of the Halloween festival was the Treat or Trick game with Mr. Simon. The students’ lovely faces glowed with happiness and joy; they burst out in laughter as they got a lot of presents and candy from the foreign teacher.
With a lot of cakes, candy and gifts received from the contest, students were all excited. Their laughter and excitement showed that the Halloween festival at Peace International School was a great success.
